Chickens In Vogue

By: Robert King, Co-founder of PoultrySouth.com

As of this morning, PoultrySouth.com had 19 poultry farms under contract and headed to closing.  WOW, what a pace that has been set in the last few months.  The expansion of the PoultrySouth Team to agents working actively in five southeastern states has added to that pace as well.  We closed one out this morning, so that technically puts us at 18 pending as of right now, but I know of at least two others that are moving toward going under contract.  It’s 1 PM as of this writing, and I know I have worked on seven different deals today.  If we had more listings, we might double those numbers easily right now.  Chicken farming is in vogue these days.

With all the uncertainty that 2020 has brought, more people than ever are looking for a rural, farming lifestyle.  Those that are looking for that lifestyle with a good predictable income associated with it are finding poultry farming to be a fit…and they are finding it in droves.  Our activity level is absolutely through the roof.  At PoultrySouth, we are actively looking for more poultry farm sellers that need our help.  If you have even had a passing thought about selling your poultry farm, the time has never been any better than it is right now.

It’s not just here in the South either.  I have talked with other’s in our industry as well that express the same thing.  All they need is a properly priced farm, and BOOM! multiple offers in days.  We have seen that happen several times over in the last few months.

Did I mention that there has never been a better time to sell a poultry farm?  If I have not, I should have.  Here’s the deal though.  This started like a flash of lightning.  Who knows how long the storm will last?  Strike while the iron is hot.  Make hay while the sun shines.  Get it while the get’n is good.  The early chicken gets the corn ?….and however many other ways you can think of for expressing how important it is to  act in the here and now.

For those of you that are interested, here is what you can expect from us:

  1.  First and foremost we are 100% confidential.  When you call us about selling, we are not going to tell your neighbors or your chicken company that you are thinking about selling.  We can plan to visit when others are not present on your farm.  It’s all kept on the down-low until you are ready.
  2. Also, there is no formal commitment from you, or cost to you for us to perform a market consultation.  We simply ask that you are actually contemplating selling.  That’s it.
  3. We will get some preliminary information from you on the phone and arrange a time to visit.  There is no need for a farm to be perfect when we come to see it.  We look at poultry farms every day.
  4. On our visit we will view the property, the poultry houses, and get more information about the farm operation, and may even take a few photos for us to use as notes.  We are not going to give you a value for the farm while we are there.  This is too important to just shoot from the hip.
  5. Once the visit is over, we will take a few days to discuss your operation, the things there that affect value, and similar farms that have sold.  After we do that, we develop a market value and a recommended asking price based off all the factors above and our experience.
  6. We then prepare a proposal to market the property and send it to you for your review.
  7. You make the decision as to if you sell, when you sell, and how you sell.  When you hire us, we work for you.  We will give you the benefit of our knowledge and experience, but you are the decision maker.

So, Chickens are in vogue.  Don’t put off what you can sell today until you can’t sell it tomorrow.  Call us for your free market consultation.
